Grimmenstein Castle consists of a so-called high-level castle on the rock of the Kulmriegel and a hillside castle below it and is situated at an altitude of about 660 m above sea level. The castle dates back to the 12th century, but its foundations and parts of the masonry are much older. After years of decay, it has been extensively renovated and opened to the public since 2014 by the new lord of the castle, Markus Albero Grimmenstein. The lord of the castle himself, dressed in a traditional knight's costume, is happy to give guided tours through the rooms of today's museum castle.
From the panoramic terrace of the small castle tavern, visitors can enjoy the magnificent panorama of the Bucklige Welt while fortifying themselves with homemade pastries and drinks.
The (heated) castle can also be rented year-round as an event location for functions, private parties and children's birthday parties.
