Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
Requiem in D minor KV 626
In parting from the world, everyone is lonely. Few works are shrouded in as many legends as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem, which he worked on even on his deathbed and which he had to leave unfinished: a moving liaison with death, a bargaining and grappling for every note. Even though modern research has long dispelled all the mystical cobwebs: The fascination remains for this unique work, which Count Walsegg-Stuppach commissioned from Mozart through a “gray messenger” for a large sum of money, intending to present it as a composition of his own in performances at his castle... Exquisite vocal forces are called upon when Julian Rachlin presents the Requiem with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
