Bamberg Symphony Orchestra
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major KV 216
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 36 in C Major KV 425 "Linz"
Robert Schumann:Symphony No. 4 in D Minor op. 120
The Bamberg Symphony Orchestra is a wonderful special case: The historical roots of this specific ensemble, which has carried the title “Bavarian State Philharmonic” since 2003, lie among other places in Prague, from where German-speaking musicians were expelled after World War II. In their new homeland, they came together again – and merged Bohemian with German musical traditions. A program featuring music by Robert Schumann, among others, is part of the Bamberg core repertoire, newly developed for HERBSTGOLD together with Julian Rachlin in the dual role of soloist and conductor. In Schumann's gripping, magnificent Fourth, the light and cheerfulness of the world ultimately triumph over brooding loneliness.
